  1. Like with the other products ive tried, this thermometer holds up the quality I expect!! It works, it’s accurate, and I can take one tiny bit of pressure off the stress of sick kids. It’s easy to use one handed and easy to read even when you’re exhausted. Must have for the family med kit!!

  4. Critical tool for this pandemic. Decided it was time to upgrade to a new one. Pop the included batteries in, set the time and date and its good to go. Super easy and fast readings! Point and click and its already done. Lightweight, easy to read large display, ergo grip and well placed buttons. Accuracy comparable to my old slower thermometers. This stays on my table now for quick and easy spot readings. Excellent upgrade.

  7. This is my second infared thermometer and it works better. I like how fast it can tell me whether I am having a fever or not by simply sliding it through my forehead. All I want to know is fever or not (more like a yes/no question). With the forehead mode, I can get what I want in secs for sure.

  13. The thermometer is finally calibrated and set for Fahrenheit. The directions that came in the box were for model JXB-182. This is JSB-178 and they aren’t the same and don’t work the same. I could not figure this out on my own. I finally found the correct instructions online and it was then easy to calibrate and use.

The instructions that came in the box did not include steps to calibrate the device.I figured out how to setup and calibrate the device which I’ll summarize below.Overall the thermometer is both accurate and produced consistent Body temperature readings by scanning 3-5cm from the forehead.I tested consistency by scanning my temperature 10 times over an hour and yielded the same temperature each time.Model No.: JXB-178Steps:Open the box indoors.Do not touch the infrared reader which is the barrel of the scanner.Read the instructions to familiarize yourself with the buttons.Install 2 AA batteries at the base of the handle with one oriented + and the other – according to the signs on the inside of the lid.Pull the trigger to turn on the thermometer.Let the thermometer stand out of the box for 15 minutes so that the device temperature reaches equilibrium with the ambient room temperature. After 15 minutes, pull the trigger to turn on the device.Select Body mode by pressing the MODE button.Press and hold the MODE button for 2 seconds. You should hear 1 beep and see a flashing F-1.Press the MODE button to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit units.Press the MEM button to select the high temperature alarm threshold. You should hear 1 beep and see a flashing F-2 on the display.Press the MEM button again to select the temperature offset. You should see a flashing F-4 and then the current offset will be displayed.Press and hold the MODE button to change the temperature offset until you reach your desired offset. The offset will run through a range of values from -5.0 to +5.0 by 0.1 increments. I set mine to 1.4.Press MEM to save.Hold the scanner 3-5cm away from your forehead.Pull the trigger once to turn it on.Pull the trigger again to scan your temperature.Use it on someone at rest who you know is healthy with a normal body temperature as a reference of 98.6 F.Recalibrate by adjusting the offset until the reading is 98.6 F.

  19. I tried this with new batteries and it didn’t work. My friend tried it too. It wouldn’t turn on!! You can’t return this item to Amazon. The seller is supposed to get back with me about the return. Now I’m out over $50 for a defective item!!

  22. Like usual, I pulled it out of the box without reading any instructions, installed the 2 AA batteries and started taking readings, and they were off, way off. I thought I had a defective unit! But after reading the instructions, found out it was my fault. It said not to use it in windy conditions, and I was outside in the sun/wind, it also said to let the unit stabilize to the surrounding temp for 15 minutes, which I had not done. So, I took it inside, waited 15 min, and guess what, it works fine. Here are a few things I see as being better than most, it uses AA, not AAA. You will get more readings on a set of batteries, thereby being cheaper to operate. It will also check room temp, apparently, it has a separate sensor for this, it does not use the IR, so pointing it at something will not make any difference while in room temp mode. The unit I received reads correctly. It can also measure surface temp, such as a baby bottle, where most only do body temp. The beep can be turned off. Once it is set to F, it stays on F, even after removing batteries, some units keep defaulting to C each time it is turned on, which is a pain, UPDATE to F or C setting, the first units I received would stay defaulted to F, even after changing the batteries, I ordered a few more, and they will default back to C when changing batteries. The first units had a mfg sticker of 6-20, the second units I received had a 5-20 date, apparently, there was a firmware change in the units. So no telling what you will get. In-room mode, the range is 32-104° F in surface mode range is 32 – 140° F in body mode range is 89.6 to 109.2° F The default for the screen turning red in body mode is 100.4° FI have ordered 3 of these, and all work excellent. Looking at the bad reviews I see most are not reading the manual and knowing the proper way to use the unit. One said it kept reading his temp as 76°, That means it was set in the room temp mode, as body mode only goes down to 89.6. Many are saying it only reads C, again, they are not reading the manual, very simple to change to F. It even states if you have sweat on your forehead, you should wipe that off, as that will affect the reading. If people would learn how to read, there would be almost no bad reviews. Remember the part about it having to be in a stable environment? if you carry this in your car, don’t expect it to read correctly, this unit needs to be in a temp stable location for a minimum of 15 minutes, if your car is really hot, it could take 30 minutes for the unit to stabilize. It is mainly for staying and using indoor! On one unit, the battery door opened easy, other units were not easy at all, I was afraid I would break to door pushing so hard, so I used a jewelers screwdriver, placed in the seam and twisted slightly, the door opened easy. Some people are confused at which way to install the batteries, once you open the door, look at the metal contact on the lid, it has the + and – mark on there.

As part of our reopening strategy our church decided to purchase this thermometer. It’s smaller and more compact than the ones we use at the hospital. Accuracy out of the box was off by 4-5°F. However after reading the instructions, we found out that it had to be placed in the environment of use for up to 30 minutes before use. After 30 minutes the accuracy was very precise, with reading either exactly on target or within 0.1° of my temps using a digital oral thermometer, as well as, family members I tested it out on.

This is a perfect infrared body thermometer that is convenient and sanitary. It is easy to use you just press the measurement key at 3-5cm away from the forehead. Then the result will be displayed in one second. No matter your preferred scale ℃ and ℉ are easily switchable. You can take body temp and it is also is able to test a room or object temperature. The LCD display with backlight can be displayed clear anywhere day or night. A high body temp will touch off the built-in fever alarm. You can store different temperature readings for Baby/Kids/Adults and recall them at any time. The total 32 values will automatically be overwritten in chronological order. You can easily monitor a trend in temperature. The delivery is fast and convenient. You can get the thermometer quickly within a week. You also can get prompt answers to any questions about this thermometer with the great customer service they offer. I am completely satisfied with this device.

  34. The thermometer works great and is very easy to use. Comes with all the tools necessary to put it together, you just need two triple A batteries. Very easy to use and the screen is also great.

  37. As this is a very sensitive health situation we’re all in, we wanted to keep an understand thermometer which can read and record the temperatures in less than a second.Pros:1. Very easy to use just like any temperature gun. I was able to point it towards an object or a human being and record the temperatures in less than a second.2. The advantage was that it has three LED indication modes with red green and orange LEDs in the back light glowing depending on the temperature reading. Glows if the temperature is normal, glows orange if the temperature is moderately high and glows red if the temperature is abnormal3. In fact I was even able to store the recorded temperatures in its memory in a stack so I could recall them whenever I want to verify the history.4. Very convenient design.5. Single button operation.Cons:1. No specific negative points but but I would have liked it it had rechargeable batteries instead of three AAA batteries

  38. I have to use a temperature gun for work but the one we use at work isn’t very accurate so I decided to try this one out since everything else keeps getting sold out with covid going on. It read 97.1 the first try and lights up green when you’re temperature is normal. It lets you know if you have a high temperature 🤒 I would say it’s worth the cost. I wouldn’t go cheap because u get what u pay for.

Amidst the pandemic, I decided to get one of these for our office. As we still have employees entering the building, it just gives us an additional peace of mind for everyone to have a temperature screening before coming in. Also, I was planning on using this to inspect the surface temperature for my printing projects during the curing process, to help me make sure the heat is appropriate to dry my inks. This thermometer is easy to use as it is a simple point and press method with the option to switch between body and surface temperature. The switch for the two options is conveniently placed above some setting buttons, so it is set up for easy toggling. It actually works pretty well for us so far. It is accurate to the extent that we compared it with the result from another temperature thermometer. There is also a memory function that log the scans. I primarily use this to keep track and remind me of certain temperature thresholds in case I forget. Also as with other thermometers, it can track in both Celsius and Fahrenheit which is useful when I have to log data for global conversions for my printing.
